Evansville Fire Department: Cottages for Kids

Benefiting the Make a Wish Foundation

In 2018, Morton Solar participated in the Cottages for Kids fundraiser-in partnership with the Evansville Fire Department. Morton Installed a 600W system on the cottage that the EFD entered. Southern Indiana Events benefitting Make-A-Wish later posted these picutres with a Facebook post that read  "Winner of the 2018 'Favorite Cottage!' This Cottage is Solar Powered and is complete with lighting, a desk, lockers, a reclining chair, and a 24” Wi-Fi enabled TV. It also features an official fire alarm doorbell! Wow!"

Mickey's Kingdom: The CommuniTree

The CommuniTree is a 25-foot stainless steel, solar-powered structure that was the idea of 3 University of Evansville students. The CommuniTree serves as a bridge between Social, Environmental, and Technological engagement as it provides solar-powered charging ports for mobile devices, along with seating and WiFi. These students entered the UE Changemaker Challenge, a competition for socially innovative ideas, and claimed first place. One of the students, Hannah Jaramillo, pursued the project after the competition with Morton Solar and other organizations to completion. The CommuniTree can be found at Mickey's Kingdom in downtown Evansville, IN. Hannah began working at Morton Solar shortly after the CommuniTree's completion.
