Morton Solar Recognized as a Top Solar Contractor in the U.S. for 2024!
Solar Power World has announced the rankings for the top solar contractors in the United States and Morton Solar is ranked #362 in the country! This will be the 10th time Morton Solar has been recognized as a top solar contractor for Solar Power World's rankings. As one of the oldest companies in Indiana, Morton Solar has fought endlessly these past 20 years for solar energy. In 2009, Morton Solar installed a small 2kW wind unit for Haubstadt Community School and was denied interconnection by the utility. After this, Morton filed a complaint with the IURC where they ruled the utility was wrong to deny interconnection and instructed the utility to re-write their tariff to allow 3-phase customers to net-meter. Without this, it is possible that 3-phase customers may not have had the ability to install solar energy systems on their businesses in Southwest Indiana. Because of this, Morton Solar was awarded the Senator Lugar Energy Patriot award. Previously in December 2008, Morton Solar installed the solar system for Chrisney Public Library which was designated the 1st Net-Zero Public Library in the United States later in 2009. This caught Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman's eye and led to support from Gov. Daniels for an executive order to expand the net-metering law to allow more solar energy to proliferate across the state. Morton Solar has relentlessly championed solar energy in the tri-state area since 2003 and will persist in leveraging its business as a force for good to support homeowners, businesses, and the community. This is just one small piece of Morton Solar's history and how we helped pave the way for solar energy in Indiana.
